Omran Yosef Al-Hlfei
This damaged Iraqi M80 helmet belonged to Omran Yosef Al-Hlfei of the 2nd Radio Communications Battalion, 30th Armored Brigade, 6th Iraqi Armored Division, and was captured by a US helicopter pilot in Desert Storm. The helmet sports burn damage on the rear that eroded parts of the helmet. The Iraqi 30th Armored Brigade participated in the famous Second Battle of Al-Faw Peninsula which was one of the turning points that ended the Iran Iraq War. In Desert Storm, the 6th Iraqi Armored Division suffered heavy losses while retreating from Kuwait, which is when Al-Hlfei likely lost his helmet. It is also very probable that his helmet was located either inside or near a burning vehicle due to the fire damage. It is unknown whether he survived the war.
